Thank you to the residents of District 7, Halifax South Downtown

Thank you for entrusting me with the job of representing you. It is a role I take very seriously. I’m excited to get to work for you and all HRM residents!

Thank you to everyone involved in my campaign: family, friends – new and old, volunteers, supporters and advisors.

Thank you to all District 7 residents for sharing your stories with me. As a candidate, I have knocked on thousands of doors since May.

Meeting so many of you has been incredibly rewarding. Listening to your stories and hearing what matters most to you has truly been a privilege.

Throughout the campaign, I promised I would be a collaborative, hard-working, and inquisitive councillor. Right now, I plan to get to the work of learning more about the role and getting to know Mayor-elect Fillmore and my colleagues on Council.

Together, we will improve the livability of Kjipuktuk/Halifax to ensure it is a place that is Affordable, Resilient and Accessible in the long run.

In the coming days I will share more about how to get in touch with me, and I will keep you informed on the progress we’re making, together.

This week I’ll be meeting with Councillor Mason to thank him for his service and support, and to complete turnover tasks.

Last night and today I:

  1. communicated with Cathy Cervin, William Breckenridge, Peter Sonnichsen, Andrea Hilchie-Pye & Aodhan Murphy
  2. completed telephone interviews with allNovaScotia and the Halifax Examiner
  3. completed a television interview (recorded, not live) with Global News
  4. reached out to mayor-elect Andy Fillmore (voice mail)
  5. responded to as many well wishes as possible (email and text, haven’t got to the social media yet)

Take care, Laura
